Every pool project we take on starts differently. Some homeowners have a blank backyard and need a design built from nothing. Others already have a pool, but the shape, finish or equipment stopped matching how the family actually uses the space years ago. Either way, as custom pool builders in West Palm Beach, we start with a walkthrough of the actual property access points, drainage, sun exposure, setbacks before we talk about styles or features, because the right pool is dictated by the lot as much as by taste.
We handle new construction, full remodels, resurfacing and repair, and every build accounts for what South Florida's coast actually does to a pool over time: salt air that eats through standard hardware, a high water table that stresses a poorly-built shell, and a hurricane season that tests everything above and below ground. That's why every project not just the larger ones gets a reinforced 12–14" gunite shell, marine-grade hardware and proper overflow drainage as a baseline, not an upgrade. Every design also starts as a free 3D rendering, so the pool exists on screen before permitting even starts.
One team covers the full scope new builds, remodels, resurfacing and repair so you're not managing three different contractors who don't talk to each other.
Explore custom pool construction, outdoor-living design and pool remodeling projects completed by Epic Watershapes for homeowners in West Palm Beach and surrounding Palm Beach County communities.
A complete pool environment designed for swimming, relaxing and outdoor entertaining.
A unified backyard design connecting the pool, cooking area, deck and seating spaces.
A practical residential pool layout created around family recreation and outdoor living.
An existing pool updated to create a cleaner appearance and a more functional backyard.
Final project descriptions should be updated with the verified neighborhood, original property condition, completed scope, selected materials, construction timeline and finished outcome after each project is confirmed by Epic Watershapes.
The same pool design doesn’t work on every West Palm Beach lot. Before we draw anything, we review the site conditions that actually determine what’s buildable.
Yard and construction access. Gate widths, distance between structures, neighboring property lines and landscaping all affect how equipment and materials reach the backyard. Limited access rarely rules a project out, but it can change the construction method, demolition scope, restoration needs, cost and schedule.
Existing structures and utilities. We map the pool around what’s already there the home itself, patios, additions, easements, utility lines, drainage, equipment pads, fences and landscaping.
Historic districts. Properties in West Palm Beach’s historic neighborhoods, including areas like El Cid, Flamingo Park and Old Northwood, can require additional architectural review before exterior work is approved. We flag this early so the design and hardscape plan account for it from the start, instead of getting rejected after the fact.
Drainage and grading. The pool and deck have to work with the property’s existing elevation and water flow, not against it this affects deck slope, finished height, and how the new surfaces tie into the old ones.
Usable outdoor space. A pool shouldn’t swallow the entire yard. We plan around what needs to stay room for furniture, grilling, dining, shade, walking paths, and safe movement for kids or pets.
We start on-site, not on paper reviewing yard space, pool placement options, equipment access, existing utilities, drainage, deck space, privacy, views and any HOA requirements that apply to your address.
You should be able to walk through your pool before it exists. Our 3D design shows the shape, spa, steps, sun shelf, decking, coping, finishes and lighting together changes here cost nothing; changes after concrete is poured cost real money.
Once the design is set, it becomes a written scope: the work being done, included features, material selections, equipment, decking, allowances, payment schedule and sequencing no vague line items you have to chase down later.
Many West Palm Beach properties sit inside communities with architectural review boards, which means HOA approval often has to happen before or alongside city permitting. We coordinate the engineering, design documents, HOA submissions and permit applications you're not the one making calls to a review board.
Once approvals clear, construction starts excavation, structural work, plumbing, electrical, inspections, shell construction, tile, coping, decking, equipment and interior finish for new builds; a different sequence for remodels and resurfacing. You get updates on what phase you're in and what's next, not silence until the invoice.
At completion, we fill or restart the pool, test every piece of equipment, and walk you through the controls pool and spa settings, pump and filtration, lighting, automation, heater (if included), startup care, basic maintenance, and who to call if something comes up later.
West Palm Beach isn't inland Florida. Salt air corrodes standard hardware, a high water table stresses a poorly-engineered shell, and hurricane season tests everything below and above ground. We build with marine-grade steel, salt-resistant hardware, reinforced 12–14" gunite shells and proper overflow drainage as the standard on every project not an upsell.
Palm Beach County has no shortage of communities with architectural review requirements. We manage the documentation, submissions and permit applications so approvals move without you chasing a review board.
Every project starts with a free, detailed 3D rendering of the pool in your actual backyard shape, coping, lighting, water features before any major decision is locked in.

If you live in South Florida, you already know one thing for sure: pools are not a luxury here, they are a lifestyle. But before you call a pool builder, there is one question that can save you time, money, and headaches. When should you actually start building? The time

Spending time outdoors is one of the best parts of owning a home. However, strong summer sunlight can quickly make a peaceful patio too hot and uncomfortable. Solid roofs can block the sun’s glare, but they also block natural light. This can make your patio and nearby rooms feel dark.

Building a custom swimming pool can turn your backyard into a fun and relaxing place for family and friends. Before construction starts, choosing the right place for your pool is one of the most important steps. A good location makes your pool easy to use, attractive, and a natural fit
Custom pool and spa construction, remodeling, resurfacing, pool packages for different budgets, cocktail and plunge pools for smaller yards, and outdoor-living work including paver patios, driveways, custom outdoor kitchens and pergolas. Cost depends on size, shape, materials and features. A basic inground pool typically starts around $50,000; mid-range pools with custom features and lighting run $70,000–$100,000; high-end custom builds with an infinity edge, spa or premium finishes can run $100,000–$200,000+. Depth, decking, water features and equipment all move the final number, so an accurate quote requires a site visit.
Yes 100% financing with competitive rates and flexible terms, so you're not paying the full project cost upfront. Financing can also cover the deck, outdoor kitchen and landscaping alongside the pool itself. Call (561) 500-EPIC or visit our financing page for details.

Most custom inground pools in West Palm Beach take 12–16 weeks start to finish, depending on design complexity, material selection, permitting and weather. Roughly: design (1–4 weeks), permitting (2–6 weeks), excavation (about 1 week), steel/plumbing/electrical (1–2 weeks), shell installation (1–3 weeks), and finishing touches (1–4 weeks). Gunite pools take longer to cure than fiberglass, and heavy rain can slow excavation.
Yes we back every build with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee and stay on the project until you're genuinely satisfied with the result. Specific warranty terms are covered during your consultation, since coverage can vary by project.
